In 2023, China (including Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan) used a total of 229,026.00 tons of pesticides, with a unit area application rate of 1.78 kg/ha. The composition was 61,926.00 tons of insecticides, 94,876.00 tons of herbicides, 59,953.00 tons of fungicides, 2,405.00 tons of plant growth regulators, 45.00 tons of rodenticides, and 9,821.00 tons of other pesticides. The Chinese Mainland alone accounted for 217,996.00 tons, applying 1.71 kg/ha. This was comprised of 58,756.00 tons of insecticides, 90,456.00 tons of herbicides, 57,012.00 tons of fungicides, 2,398.00 tons of plant growth regulators, and 9,375.00 tons of other pesticides. Compared to 2022, both the total pesticide volume and the application rate per unit area in China decreased in 2023.
